07 Oct Grand Opening, New Services, And October News
Thank you all for your support (either in person or energetically) for our Grand Opening!
We had gorgeous weather and a steady flow of eager beavers winding up the mountain to see the new retreat space in Black Mountain. Our space is really special like that—first you take that sharp turn up the Old Toll Rd. Extension, and it looks like you’re headed to a dead end when you veer to the left and down into our leafy parking area.
But even after you’ve oohed and aaahed over the grounds, there’s another surprise when you enter our majestic lobby. The vaulted ceiling, huge southside windows, indoor balcony and stone fireplace are just stunning.
Truth be told, we were a little nervous, but we couldn’t be happier with how the day turned out. Grace Alex rocked 15-minute chair massages all afternoon (with Phoenix even popping in for a few), while Asher Leigh serenaded us with her lovely music.
We showcased our new neurofeedback station, our foot massager, and our Lumen Light Therapy, and Brianna showed folks around our private guest suite upstairs. Dr. Molly Meinhardt, DC and Dr. Anya Harris, DC, both from Crystalign Chiropractic, gave spinal evaluations and discussed the benefits of chiropractic care.
We want to give a big thanks to Ron Bradley and Samantha Pollack with Cult of Personality, for creating all our flyers, posters, logo, signage, business cards, and website updates that helped y’all understand who we are, what we do, and where find us.
Also, want to thank Joe Gladstein and Edward Wolfe for their support and valet expertise. I don’t know how we would have managed the flow of 60-70 people and their cars(!) without their masterful direction. And, now we know we have ample parking for 20 cars, plus overflow to accommodate up to 40, which is awesome for future events and workshops.
Thanks to our landlord Linda Rollins for helping us with repairs, maintenance, parking and neighborhood introductions.
The energy was festive, educational, and connected, and so many people asked about our bodywork and counseling services, relationship workshops, and the due date for Baby Blueberry. (November 22nd in case you missed it). Thank you to every one of you for supporting us and loving us. ❤️
And the envelope, Brianna, please!

Virtual Coaching with Larry Byram
A few Sundays ago, we hosted four virtual coaching sessions with our mentor Larry Byram in attendance.
Three of these sessions focused on discovering the work that would align most with our client’s creativity. We call this Authentic Life Expression. The fourth was focused on identifying compatible partners, by looking at parental patterns, defenses, and distortions, and learning to unhook from familiar co-dependent relationships.
These sessions were recorded with the client’s permission and will be used to demonstrate how a Higher Alignment session works. Stay tuned for their release on YouTube!
If these sound like something that would benefit you, please inquire about our Higher Alignment Coaching Services. Also check out our virtual Conscious Dating and Selecting Great Relationships Classes on Monday nights (please note these are Mountain Time).
Sending McKinley Home 😢
The week before our Grand Opening, we spent our honeymoon and last vacation before the arrival of Blueberry at one of our favorite getaways on the east coast, the Meher Baba Spiritual Center.
What a refreshing escape into this forest on the beach. (Yes—a forest, on the beach. Put it on your list.)
It was so nice to take a break and deepen our bond to each other, to our baby, the pine trees and the ocean. It was bittersweet, though, because just a few days before heading out we said good-bye to our Puppy Oldman.
We soaked in the sun, sand, wind, and waves, nourishing our souls and sorrow, and honoring the beautiful life we spent with ‘Kinners these past 14 years, and coming home with even more commitment to love, life and light. Thank you all for your heartfelt wishes!
Baluga (say it! Baluuuuuuuuuga!)
If you schedule a session with Avyanna these days, you may notice her eyes are a bit puffy, and she’s sporting black Bruce Lee wrist bands to keep the swelling down. Also, your cranial bones might get an extra bump from the belly.
It’s all part of the extra love you are receiving during these final weeks. Blueberry is progressing nicely and hopes to be born at home on November 22nd.
Avyanna hasn’t seen her feet in weeks, and her schedule has been punctuated by naps: wake up, session, nap, eat, session, nap, eat, walk, nap, sleep. 😊
She’s hanging in there as long as possible to give you her loving touch as she cuts back her hours. So please plan your massages with her in advance. And if she burps? Just roll with it.
Avyanna’s maternity leave will start in November. We’re working on bring in another therapist that we trust, or you might try working with Phoenix while she’s out.
(But FYI, we’ll both be working a lot less in December. Dads deserve paternity leave too!)
Thanks to our partnership with Dr. JoJo Yonce, neurofeedback is here.
Just like exercise strengthens the muscles, neurofeedback is exercise for the brain. We start with a Quantitative Electroencephalograph (QEEG) evaluation, in which you wear a funny cap while sensors evaluate your brainwave patterns.
These sensors do not put any electrical current into the brain – they simply record signals.
This evaluation determines 760 unique points of information about brain function, including including how and where your brain could be functioning better. Based on this, we’re able to create a target plan for your neurofeedback treatment.
During treatment, you get to relax and watch a movie of your choice, while sensors are attached at precise points to track your brain’s activity. The picture and sound of your movie will flicker and adjust in response to brainwave activity, providing real-time feedback to your brain that something is out of balance.
Gradually, your brain learns how to better create the desired brain waves and minimize undesired brain wave patterns, by watching its own brain waves and self-correcting any dysfunction. All while you’re catching up on that baking show you like.
It’s a lot to get your head around (see what we did there?). You can learn more here.
Again, thank you all for celebrating with us and being a part of this next incarnation of Blossom & Be Wellness Retreat. Only 20-minutes from downtown Asheville, we are right off the highway in Black Mountain, yet it feels like we’re deep in the forest.
Call to book a session, your private or couples retreat or your next workshop!
